Kaleidoscope

By Madena L. Phinney

We are what we know...Who we inspire to be...
But only through looking in our kaleidoscope can we see

Our minds race, our mouths speak too often abruptly
Only to say if I don't speak now, my mind will soon forget me

The Kaleidoscope prisms will just pass me by, as I stare in awe over a day lit sky
The pieces they fall colorful and bright, as my mind races through the day and night.

Circumstance leads me always in a rainbow of thoughts and emotion, hoping that one day, I'' find the cure, that secret potion
I feel the tension, from you to me. And yes, I know of the wise old owl you see.
So I try to stop the wheels from turning, to collect, focus, to produce clarity

I try to remain calm, yet there's so much to do, before my thoughts, my energies, my talents are gone

Why I am like this? No one really knows. Please try to bear with me and not angrily propose, that I am different or stupid, obnoxious or rude

I try my best to be attentive, considerate, hold my tongue, have my manners exude

I care and hope that you will too, care enough to try to understand as I would you

To put yourself into my very shoes and see that as much as I really want to, I simply cannot choose.

For, It, has chosen me

Again...the pieces they fall, to create for a moment, a picture of beauty or abstract negatives.

Yet no matter how hard I try, It all resides to a blur, as the kaleidoscope wheels aver

...No end to the Kaleidoscope
