Thank you for the trust that you placed in me and us
before the scientific evidence.
It's hard to suss chaps these days, this I know
and harder still to go beyond the common view
and feel what lies behind.
In this resides good faith, I do believe
and this it is which blinds the grave.
From this I take a rote and so may quote
my lesson with a soft humility
remembering, as all souls must,
without our friends we are but dust.
