Morning and Waking

By Renee aged 14

Dancing silently around my window
Prancing swiftly around my bed
Sings softly into my ear
Lulling me to sleep

Waking is like a storm
It happens and the night goes
The monsters from your darkest dreams
Vanish at the sight of the sun

The sun that streams in through the crack
The crack in your curtains
That tells you that dawn is up and so should you
For to miss a morning is to miss a piece of history

School's a drag
But mother and father want the best
You think it's a waste of time
Not knowing the right thing

Marriage comes along
Meeting the perfect person was a thrill
But to wed and link in holy matrimony
Was something you'll never forget?

Then suddenly out of the blue
This thing, a thing called divorce
Rises to greet you like the sun
One morning long after the first fight

Legal papers aside
You begin to picture the future
Of pain and aloneness
Until a knock on the door sounds

And you begin to meet that special person all over again.
