Surprise In UK TV Medical Drama

Peak Practice - UK ITV, Tuesdays 9.00 p.m.

The Peak Practice Team

UK ITV's medical drama Peak Practice on Tuesday 23rd November provided a big surprise in promoting awareness to ADD in adults.

The opening scenes made us wonder but we thought no, they can't be going to bring up adult ADD in the program. As the program progressed, more and more clues emerged as the hyperactive chef, Mickey, played by (Tom Butcher), got up to more and more bizarre antics culminating in him throwing fruit off the roof of the hotel where he worked. It wasn't until near the end of the program, that baffled Dr Joanna Graham (Hadyn Gwynne) suggested he might see a psychologist, following a car accident in which his wife had been injured. He had previously shrugged off the idea of going to see a "shrink".

At the end of the program Doctor Graham had the results back from the psychologist and announced he suffered from ADD. This story line in the program was done in such a way as to give hope to sufferers that with counselling and possibly medication, they could finally experience a full and rewarding life.
