And The Winner Is......

At the recent ADDISS COnference all of the Delegates were asked to vote for their favourite entry in the "Celebrating the Talent Within" Art Competition

We have just found out that there was a press release in April announcing the winner

The winner was Darcy Easton aged 11 years from Broxburn, West Lothian

His picture "The Scream: My Life with ADHD", was based on Edvard Munch's famous work of 1893.

The local papers where Darcy lives, The Edinburgh Evening News, Herald & Post West Lothian and a National Journal - Practice Nurse all ran stories of this great achievement and Darcy's mum is quoted in The Edinburgh Evening News saying: "We are delighted Darcy has won this prize, that his talents have been recognised and rewarded"

Darcy won a day trip around London's art galleries, and his picture will also be exhibited at Great Ormond St Hospital.

There were around 25 entries to the Competition and was open to all young people up to the age of 16 years who had been diagnosed with ADHD

Andrea Bilbow, founder and executive director of ADDISS, said: "Because ADHD is under-recognised and under-treated, young people with ADHD are often confused, angry, frustrated and have low self-esteem.

"However, they are also extremely creative, talented and rewarding to work with.

"It was great to see their talent shining through in our competition. Many delegates were extremely moved by the art on display."

I was at the Conference and I can say I was really impressed with all of the entries and to be honest I wished I could have voted for all of them.

All the other entrants will also receive a prize for their wonderful entries as all the organisers and delegates felt that everyone had put in so much effort and all of their entries were so good that they all deserved a reward for all their hard work
