Project title: A comparative analysis: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder with respect to clinical function, social cognition and maladaptive behaviour in an adult population
This research is being conducted by Ashley Stark, as a thesis project under the direct supervision of Dr.'s Mike Lyvers and Lisa Abel in the Department of Psychology at Bond University. This project will be conducting research on the clinical and social function of people diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder/ Attention Deficit Disorder ( (ADHD/ADD).
The purpose of this program of research is to compare and contrast, at length, Asperger syndrome/Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD in terms of symptomatology and general function. By elucidating the precise nature of the relationship between these concepts in this context, clinical practice will be able to, more successfully, consider alternative diagnoses and explore potential neurological links with respect to brain function. At a theoretical level, this program of research seeks to identify the commonalities between the concepts to provide a more uniform framework for the understanding of these disorders.
We are looking for individuals (aged 18 years & over) who have been diagnosed with ADHD/ADD. The project involves the completion of the psychometric measures utilised in this study via a supervised, self-report method. Each measure will have a brief explanation of how to properly complete the assessment to further assist this process. It is anticipated that the completion of the measures will take 60-90 minutes.
