Family Understandings: Closeness, Authority and Independence in Families with Teenagers (Family & Parenthood: Policy & Practice)
by Wendy Langford

Another on the series family and parenthood, policy and practise.

Looking at what "family" means to children in early teens and how beliefs and values are working to everyday life.

It identifies common themes and differences between family members and areas of tension in talking and thinking in everyday life.

The authors/researchers believe that parent and teenagers have clear and strong values and beliefs about family life and strive to achieve these. They recommend that were parents seek help and support that policymakers should listen and seek ways to provide this. Also they believe that all young people should be able to access the same support, not dependant on ability war social, economic differences you're only if they are obviously facing difficult situations.
